April 30 is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, and Carvana marked the occasion with Adopt Don’t Shop 2026, a company-wide initiative celebrating pet adoption and the communities we call home.
Covering Adoption Fees, No Strings Attached
On April 30, Carvana covered adoption fees for anyone who adopted from select local shelters in the Phoenix area. No Carvana affiliation was required, just a willingness to open your home to an animal in need.
Local shelters included Incredibull Stella, Whisker Outpost, AZ Husky Rescue, Eclecteri, and the Arizona Humane Society, offering dogs, cats, and reptiles to prospective adopters.
Carvana also reimbursed team members for adoption fees when they adopted from a shelter or rescue anywhere in the U.S. during that week.
Bringing Pet Adoptions to the Workplace
Ahead of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, Carvana team members at its Tempe, Arizona headquarters gathered for an on-site adoption event. The event featured adoptable animals, pet-friendly vendors, a seasonal pop-up of Carvana pet swag, and raffle tables. A portion of proceeds benefited local shelters and sanctuaries.
The event was brought to life through Carvana’s Passion Projects program, which empowers team members to lead volunteer and community initiatives that reflect their values and Carvana’s commitment to giving back.
