Today marks two years since the Electronic Secure Title and Registration Transformation Coalition, known as eSTART, was formed to support the modernization of vehicle title and registration processes around the country.

While most things in today’s world – from banking to car buying – can be done digitally, vehicle title and registration still runs predominately on paper-based processes. eSTART aims to support the adoption of modern, secure technologies for title and registration that save consumers time and money and bring efficiency and reliability to state processes.

Carvana is proud to have helped launch the eSTART coalition as a founding member, working alongside nearly 150 industry leaders and our partners at state DMVs across the country to bring vehicle titling into the 21st century.

What eSTART is working to modernize

eSTART’s mission centers on three critical pillars that enable faster, more secure title and registration processes:

      • the adoption of electronic signatures,
      • the transition to digital submission and processing, and
      • the enablement of seamless electronic vehicle record transfers.

Two years of progress and participation

In just two years, the eSTART Coalition has built meaningful momentum. Members’ collaborative efforts to engage and educate stakeholders with open letters and inclusive, constructive meetings are putting title and registration modernization on the agenda.

We are grateful to the many states and industry participants leading the way toward a more efficient, secure and reliable future. Happy anniversary, eSTART.  We’re excited to keep advancing this work together.
